Highlighted projects at San Francisco State 
AudioQuery: realtime melody analysis from synthetic and recorded audio. Written in Cocoa/Objective-C to run on Mac OS 10.4 and up. Tracks multiple frequency peaks as they change over the course of the sound. 

Query By Humming: a system to match user queries (whistled, hummed, or sung) to a database of 
melodies. Front-end application in Cocoa/Objective-C using Core Audio. Parsed queries are submitted to a Java backend with a MySQL data store. Uses the Smith-Waterman algorithm (used in bioinformatics) to match queries to known melodies. 


Independent Consultant (October 2004 - Present) 
Wind River CMS: a document/content management system for Wind River's (Alameda, CA) Marketing and Sales departments, written in Ruby on Rails and deployed on Solaris and Oracle 9. 

The People Choose 2006: website for Link TV of San Francisco. Covered the 2006 US elections and included video, blogs, discussion board, and editorial content. Written in Ruby using the Rails framework. The site logged heavy traffic and supported the staff's live video updates on election day. WorldRes, Inc. - San Mateo, CA 
Software Developer (September 2003 - October 2004) 
Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of WorldRes's legacy C-based central reservation engine. 

Created tools in PHP and Java: paid-placement marketing tools, web functionality on PlacesToStay.com. Utilized Java web services and a Sybase database paired with PHP templating. 

Ecast, Inc. - San Francisco, CA 
Software Developer (April 2001 - May 2002) 
Redesigned ecastcentral.com, providing centralized management of thousands of internet-connected jukeboxes. Created a "forms engine" in PHP and XML that enabled rapid development of new features. 

Object-level redesign of the client-server protocols and processes that made up the Ecast network, with key 
features being mass scalability, intelligent content distribution, and real-time communications, monitoring, 
and maintenance.
